Abstaining from drinking, while critical, does not in itself constitute sobriety. In fact, it may have little effect on the insanity, the defects of character and the shortcomings that accompany chronic substance abuse. A sober alcoholic, in contrast, is someone who is addicted to alcohol but who is transforming in all aspects. They are in the process of experiencing all kinds of changes—emotional, spiritual and relational—in addition to behavioral changes. Many find this transforming empowerment at Christian rehab centers. Alcoholism is a complicated, complex disease that slowly destroys the mind, the body, the spirit and all relationships in the life of those addicted. Spiritual in nature, the afflicted must experience strong spiritual support and recovery in order to access a Power greater than himself who can do for him that which he cannot do for himself. While “traditional AA spirituality” helps him commence this journey, Christian Drug Treatment programs present the powerful 12 Steps as rooted in the scriptures from which they originate. Here, they are offered the Power to replace old "stinking thinking" with more grace-full and biblical truth. Toxic, addictive and shame-based religious training is confronted by authentic, grace-based biblical examination. A quality Christian drug treatment program will treat each client’s case with sensitivity and care. An individualized schedule is designed based on the unique needs of the patient and is supervised by an assigned case manager. As the program progresses, friends and family members may be included in lectures, process groups and family counseling. Following the completion of their primary treatment program, transitional care and sober living programs may be offered, along with alumni services and other options to help assure long-term sobriety. Pacific Hills Treatment Centers, Inc. is a premier Christian treatment program where Christian drug treatment is the centerpiece of their service. A professional and certified staff includes psychologists, psychiatrists, medical staff, case managers and recovery pastors. All graduating clients are equipped with a relapse prevention plan that associates “triggers” with potential relapse and equips the recovering addict with “tools” to avoid experiencing a relapse.
