Ads Directory review submission guide

This guide has been created in an attempt to aid users in the submission of quality businesses and/or websites to the directory. Though we make every consideration possible to accommodate review submission requests for category placement and acceptance Ads Directory editors reserve the right to edit listing submissions, according to the "Submission Terms".

Our staff, editors, partners and affiliates care a great deal about the quality of Ads Directory's presence on the web and the services provided. We are not a search engine and pride ourselves on being highly selective. We do not accept all website or business submissions, so please do not take it personally should your website or business not be accepted. Our goal is to make Ads Directory as useful as possible to our users.

To keep Ads Directory running smoothly and to assist us in exercising our editorial discretion, we have set up policies for submitting websites and/or businesses for consideration. We may reject, delete, or edit submissions that violate these policies or that we otherwise believe, in our sole discretion, should not be included in the directory. We may also reject, delete, or block other websites that we believe to be associated with a user who has violated these policies. Be sure to read through all terms and policy documents carefully. Many times submissions are rejected because of overlooked steps or the requirements outlined within these policies.

Please take a few moments to understand these policies and the steps to submit a review listing before you begin. Failure to understand and follow these instructions generally will result in the rejection of a submission.

A few important and common reasons submissions are often rejected:

  • Not having policy documents clearly stated on your website such as Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Disclaimers etc. and Return Policy for eCommerce, shopping, paid membership's and any other financial transactions you may offer.
  • Improper descriptions and use of titles - the excessive use of CAPITAL LETTERS and/or failure to describe your site by instead adding promotional content to the description
  • Failure to confirm emails - user submissions must have emails confirmed before listings will be accepted. Your confirmed email address assures Ads Directory you are a human and you are able to receive important information about your submission like acceptance, rejection, confirmed payment notices etc...
  • Duplicate content - or multiple instances of your site
  • Excessive advertising - ratio of advertising to relevant content.
  • Black hat practices
  • Viruses, malware, spyware, known spam sites, etc...

Step One

Now that you have a better understanding of Ads Directory's policies, determine whether your site or business is appropriate for submission to Ads Directory. Go over your site and make corrections or additions as needed to better insure approval of your submission. Check for broken links and spelling errors. Decide on your title, description, the submission type you want and have this all ready prior to filling out the submission form. Below is a sample list of Do Not's that result in rejections. Please refer to the Submission Terms for full documentation.

  • Do not submit mirror sites. Mirror sites are sites that contain identical content, but have altogether different URLs.
  • Do not submit URL's that contain only the same or similar content as other sites you may have listed in the directory. Sites with overlapping and repetitive content are not helpful to users of the directory. Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.
  • Do not disguise your submission and submit the same URL more than once.
    Example: http://www.adsdirectory.net and http://www.adsdirectory.net/index.html
  • Do not submit any site with an address that redirects to another address.
  • Ads Directory has a policy against the inclusion of sites with illegal content. Examples of illegal material include child pornography; libel; material that infringes any intellectual property right; and material that specifically advocates, solicits or abets illegal activity (such as fraud or violence).
  • Do not submit sites "under construction". Wait until a site is complete before submission. Sites that are incomplete, contain "Under Construction" notices, or contain broken graphics or links are not good candidates for Ads Directory.
  • Do not submit pornographic sites.
  • Do Not submit non-English sites.
  • Do not submit sites consisting largely of affiliate links or excessive advertisement.
  • Do not submit sites with popups and/or popunders that are intrusive to the user experience or do not allow the linked listing be viewed prior to popups.
  • Do not submit sites that use Black Hat tactics.

Step Two

Do a quick search in Advanced Search to be sure your site or business is not already listed with Ads Directory. This saves everyone time and duplicate review submissions will be prevented.

Step Three

Identify the single best category for your site. Ads Directory maintains nearly 4000 nested subject categories to choose from. You should submit a website and/or business to the single most relevant category. Review submissions to inappropriate or unrelated categories may be rejected or removed.

Categories without the "Add Your Submission Today!" link. do not accept submissions, therefor you should choose a more specific category for your website or business.
Note: Access to the submission form can also be found in the main menu and under the "Submissions" tab dropdown. This link is there for the convenience of those whom are certain of the specific category for their submission.

Step Four

Once you have selected the best category for your website or business, go directly to that category on Ads Directory and then click "Add your submission today!." Follow the instructions on the submission form carefully. Keep in mind that any field with the orange * next to it is a required field and must be filled out. Descriptions of sites should describe the content of the site concisely and accurately. They should not be promotional in nature. Submitting a promotional description rather than an objective, well written description may significantly delay your submission from being listed or prevent your submission from being listed at all. Auto submission software is a violation of submission policy. Webites and/or businesses submitted automatically are flagged, deleted or stored in our database, unable to be viewed by spiders or visitors, without notification to you. Persistent automatic submission may force Ads Directory to ban users by IP address from the Ads Directory site, so we may reserve resources for real human users.

There are standard and additional options for review submissions depending on the submission type you choose. Additional options for listing details may or may not include:

  • Deep linking,
  • Top Category selection,
  • File upload,
  • Image upload,
  • YouTube Video display linking,
  • Free article submission,
  • etc. etc. etc... This is a partial list of premium options available with select plans.

Procedure After Your Site is Submitted

An Ads Directory editor will review your submission to determine whether to include it in the directory. Depending on factors such as the volume of submissions to the particular category, it may take several weeks or more before your submission is reviewed. Review times are listed on each submission type and very in length. Please only submit a website URL or Business listing to Ads Directory once. Again, multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites. Disguising your submission and submitting the same URL or Business more than once is not permitted.

Updating or Editing Your Submission

Once your submission has been accepted for inclusion in Ads Directory and you would like to make changes or additions to your submission, login to your account, go to My Account/My Submissions and click the Review link. Make your edits and save. Once edits have been made, your listing will be (priorty) reviewed once again by an Ads Directory editor for approval of edits made before edits will show up.

The Ads Directory staff welcomes comments and feedback about the design of the site, service provided and experience of its users. Please let us know what you think, and how we can improve the service. Thanks!
